Jay is a licensed optician who joined Eola Eyes in December 2003. He has worked as an optician in the Orlando and Winter Park area for many years and has vast experience in fitting eyewear and edging lenses. Originally from the Cleveland, Ohio, area, he moved to Florida over twenty years ago. He enjoys finding the perfect frame for peoples’ lifestyles and face shapes and stays current with the latest frame styles and lens technology to provide our patients with the best products available.
Melanie has been a part of the Eola Eyes team since 2006. She moved to Orlando from Philadelphia in 1994. For several years, she owned and operated a full service hair and tanning salon in the Downtown area. In 2006, she sold her salon and joined Eola Eyes. She was able to bring her costumer service and administrative skills to the practice, and has grown with them since. Over the past several years, she has broadened her optical skills and enjoys helping patients select and order eyewear. When she is not at work, Melanie spends her time with her husband, Mark Porter, and daughter, Ava LaRue (born 2002).
Jenny joined Eola Eyes in January 2010. She studied Communication Sciences and Disorders at Penn State and at the University of Central Florida. Her studies led her to be an American Sign Language interpreter for the past six years. While in college, she became an optometric technician and has further developed her knowledge by working at Eola Eyes.
Jenny considers herself a committed army girlfriend and is very proud of her and her boyfriend's three dogs. She is originally from Orlando and has had the opportunity to get to know various cities in Florida due to her boyfriend being stationed at different bases over the last three and a half years. During her spare time, Jenny travels to various army bases and assists in providing eye exams to soldiers as a means of enhancing her skills while bonding with her boyfriend and his occupation. When she’s not busy helping patients at Eola Eyes and soldiers in Florida, she’s cheering on her favorite sports teams: Penn State Nittany Lions and Baltimore Ravens.
